Frequently Asked Questions
What is Unwired's Fast Internet?
-
Switch On and Double Up are two Fast Internet plans that we no longer offer.
-
Unwired's fast internet plans have all the benefits of a broadband plan such as fast speed, no need for a second phone line and the convenience of being 'always on'. There is no installation required, it's incredibly easy to setup in under 5 minutes, and there is no waiting for your account to be created. Better still, because it is a wireless connection with no cables, you can use your modem anywhere within the greater Sydney coverage area, at no extra charge. So with Unwired fast internet plans, you can take you connection with you and enjoy the benefits of fast speed internet access wherever and whenever you need it.

Our fast internet plans are slightly slower than broadband speeds, which are defined as 256kbps upwards. They're perfect for the dial up customer who is frustrated by the slow speeds, inconvenience and hidden costs involved with dial up, but doesn't need to pay for super fast broadband speeds. But speed aside, the differences with our fast internet plans and broadband plans stop here. They still offer an always on connection, do not need a phone line, you don't need to dial up each time you access the internet, and they don't include hidden charges. They use the same Unwired modem as our broadband plans, so all you have to do is visit our website to change to a broadband plan when you're ready, with no other equipment or delays required. They've also got 50MB of mailbox space which is over twice as much space as the best dial up offerings. And as these plans are also based on Unwired wireless technology, your internet connection is portable, allowing you to access the internet via your Unwired account on PCs, Macs or lap tops almost anywhere within our coverage area, not just within your home.

Rather than connecting your modem to a phone line or cable outlet, the Unwired modem uses wireless technology to access the internet. There is a built in antenna within the Unwired modem which connects to one of the many Unwired towers covering greater Sydney. So you are able to move your computer and modem wherever you like where there is a power supply, within the Sydney coverage area, at no extra charge, without being tied to a phone line or cable outlet. Better still, it's also much simpler and quicker to install compared to an ADSL or cable broadband connection. Once you have ordered your modem from Unwired you will have it delivered the next day if ordered before 1pm. The setup process takes minutes and you are immediately online. That's right, no more waiting 3-5 days for an account to be setup and no charge or time offline if you need to move your modem from one address to another.

You need to purchase an Unwired Modem. This can be purchased from Unwired online at www.unwired.com.au or via the Unwired helpdesk on 1300 761 881. Here you can select a plan and contract terms and submit your billing details. Then you can start surfing the internet. Typical setup takes under 5 minutes.

When you sign up to Unwired, you get an Unwired modem, an Ethernet or USB cable and a quick start CD. Once you have completed setup and signed up to a plan, you will receive instant internet access. All in under 5 minutes.
