MS Outlook 2002/2003 - Using Unwired's Mailbox

Unwired allows you to access your email in many different ways. For those of you who do not wish to use the Unwired interface, you may also receive your email using POP3 mail standards, and send via SMTP.

This guide will help you create settings so that you may use your Unwired email account with other clients.

Each step is illustrated by a screen shot. Follow the detailed instructions under the screen shot to complete the step.

Step 1: Select email accounts

Open your Microsoft Outlook program. At the top of the menu, select the Tools option, and scroll down until you see E-mail Accounts... Select the E-mail Accounts option and proceed to Step 2.

Note: If you don't see Accounts right away it may be hidden. Click on the small downward arrow at the bottom of the Tools menu to reveal any hidden menu options.

The next window you will see is the E-mail Accounts window.

Select the View or change existing e-mail accounts option. Then, click on the Next button and proceed to the next step.

You may already have an existing Unwired mailbox configured. If so, then select it from the list of accounts displayed, click on Change and proceed to step 5 (skipping step 4).

An existing Unwired mailbox can be identified in two ways:

  1. the name contains the word "unwired"
  2. the name contains the series of numbers "202.58.32.50"

If you do not have an existing Unwired mailbox configured, then click on Add and proceed to step 4.

Under the Server Type click the POP3 option, and click the Next button to continue.

User Information

Your Name: This should be your first and last name (This will be the display name, which will appear in the "From" line when you send e-mail to others).

E-mail Address: Enter your Unwired username, followed by "@unwired.com.au". For example, if your username is "demo", then you enter demo@unwired.com.au

Server Information
Incoming Mail Server (POP3): pop3.unwired.com.au
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): esmtp.unwired.com.au

Logon Information

Username: Enter in your Unwired username, followed by ".unwired". For example, if your Unwired username is "demo", then you enter "demo.unwired"

Password: Enter the password provided to you by Unwired. The password is case sensitive.

Remember Password: Be sure to check this box if you do not wish to enter the password every time you check your e-mail.

Step 6: Additional Settings (Internet E-mail Settings)

Once you have filled in all the information in the previous step, click on the "More Settings" button. You are now in the Internet E-mail Settings menu. Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab.

Select the box which is labeled "My Outgoing Server (SMTP) Requires Authentication", and then select "Use same setting as my incoming mail server", then press OK.

You should now be back in the main email accounts settings window. Click on the Next button to continue with your settings.

Step 7: Completion

Click Finish and you will be returned to Outlook. You are finished setting up the POP3 Account.

To check your new e-mail account, click the "Send and Receive" button located at the top of the Microsoft Outlook toolbar.
